The wefts are intentionally made in different widths because the human head is not equally wide from one placement area to another. A large back section can accommodate a wider weft, while higher or more lateral areas often benefit from narrower pieces.
Instead of forcing one width to work everywhere, a combination of 4-clip, 3-clip, 2-clip, and 1-clip pieces gives you more ways to distribute the hair around your own head shape.

Why are the two 4-clip wefts different widths?
This is one of the details that can look unusual if you are buying Clip-In extensions for the first time.
Both pieces have four clips, but that does not mean they need to have exactly the same width. The number of clips and the width of the weft solve two related but different problems.
The clips provide attachment points. The width determines how much horizontal area the piece is designed to cover.
Because the available width around the head changes as you move between placement rows, using one wider 4-clip piece and one slightly narrower 4-clip piece can create a more adaptable set than simply duplicating the same large weft twice.

2. Use the narrower 4-clip piece for the next level of coverage
As the available width changes, the slightly narrower 4-clip weft gives you another large piece without simply duplicating the widest shape.
3. Use 3-clip and 2-clip pieces to distribute volume
The medium pieces allow you to build fullness around the hairstyle without stacking only large wefts in one area.

Do You Have to Wear All 8 Wefts Every Time?
