Hair Guide
Why Face-Framing Pieces
Complete Your Extensions.
Halo and Clip-In extensions can add beautiful overall length and volume, but the front of your hairstyle often needs something slightly different. Face-Framing Pieces are designed to add targeted fullness, softer layers, and a more natural transition around the face — without adding unnecessary weight everywhere else.
“A natural extension result is not only about how much hair you add — it is also about where you add it.”
What Are
Face-Framing
Pieces?
Face-Framing Pieces are small, lightweight human hair extension pieces designed specifically for the front sections of your hairstyle.
Instead of creating the main length of your hairstyle, their purpose is to help add fullness and transition around the temples, cheeks, and front layers — areas where natural hair may be shorter or finer than the hair at the back.
UNILOVELY Face-Framing Pieces are made with 100% Remy human hair and are designed to complement both Invisible Halo Extensions and Seamless Clip-In Extensions.
Why Add Them?
Small pieces. A more finished front.
Benefit 01
Front Fullness
Add hair exactly where the front sections feel lighter instead of increasing the weight of your entire extension set.
Benefit 02
Softer Blending
Help bridge the visual gap between shorter natural front layers and longer extension hair.
Benefit 03
Natural Layers
Create a more intentional layered effect around the cheeks and face rather than having every strand fall at one long length.
Benefit 04
Color Dimension
Match your main shade for a seamless result or intentionally choose a complementary shade for more face-framing dimension.
Why They Pair
So Well with
Halo Extensions
Halo Hair Extensions are designed to add most of their length and volume through the back and sides of the head. That simple one-piece structure is one of the reasons Halo extensions are so convenient.
But the very front of the hairstyle still depends largely on your own natural hair. If your hair is finer near the temples, heavily layered, or shorter around the face, the back may already look full while the front still feels lighter.
Balance the front and back
Face-Framing Pieces can add targeted hair to the front so the overall hairstyle feels more balanced without making the Halo itself heavier.
Bridge shorter front layers
If your natural front hair is much shorter than your Halo, a shorter intermediate layer can make the transition into the longer extension hair appear softer.
Keep the Halo simple
You can keep the easy one-piece Halo experience while adding only a small amount of hair where you specifically need it.
If you are still deciding on your main Halo length, visit our Halo Extension Length Guide .
Why Add Them
to Clip-In
Extensions?
Seamless Clip-In Extensions already give you more flexibility because individual wefts can be positioned around different areas of the head.
However, the main wefts in a full Clip-In set are primarily designed to create overall volume and length. Moving a larger weft too far forward simply to fill a small temple area is not always the most precise solution.
More precise placement
Smaller Face-Framing Pieces allow you to add hair specifically around the front rather than repositioning a larger weft.
Less unnecessary bulk
You can improve front fullness without stacking more large pieces around the temples.
More styling control
Smaller front pieces can make it easier to create intentional face-framing layers and more precise color placement.
You can also compare overall lengths in our Clip-In Extension Length Guide .
A Deliberate Length Choice
Why UNILOVELY chose 14-inch Face-Framing Pieces.
14" With Shorter Extensions
Natural Integration
With 14-inch extensions, the Face-Framing Pieces can blend closely with the overall length while adding targeted fullness around the front.
14" With Medium Lengths
Soft Transition
With 16- or 18-inch extensions, 14-inch pieces can create a gentle step between your natural front layers and the main extension length.
14" With Long Extensions
Visible Layering
With 20-, 22-, or 24-inch extensions, the shorter front length creates more noticeable face-framing layers instead of simply adding another strand of long hair.
Why Not Match
the Full Extension
Length?
Face-Framing Pieces are not designed to replace the overall length of your Halo or Clip-In extensions. Their purpose is different.
If a Face-Framing Piece simply matched a 20-inch, 22-inch, or 24-inch extension exactly, it could behave more like another small piece of long extension hair rather than creating a true face-framing effect.
We chose 14 inches (approximately 35.5 cm) because it is long enough to blend into the hairstyle while still being short enough to create a visible transition around the face.
The goal is shape, not more length
Your main extension set creates overall length. Face-Framing Pieces help create shape and softness around the front.
One intentional length keeps choosing simple
Instead of asking customers to guess between six different front lengths, we use one carefully selected length so you can focus on choosing the right shade and fullness.
Designed with a Purpose
14 inches is not a limitation — it is part of the face-framing design.
The main extension creates length. The shorter front piece creates the transition. By giving each part of the hairstyle a different job, we can focus on a more balanced and intentional result.
Should the
Color Match
Exactly?
For the most seamless result, choosing Face-Framing Pieces in the same or a closely matching shade as your main extensions is usually the simplest approach.
For example, if you wear #4 Chocolate Brown extensions, choosing #4 Chocolate Brown Face-Framing Pieces helps carry the same color through the front of the hairstyle.
But the shades do not always have to be identical. If you intentionally want more brightness or contrast around the face, you may choose a carefully selected complementary shade to create more dimension.
For seamless blending
Choose the same or a very similar shade to your Halo or Clip-In extensions.
For intentional dimension
A slightly lighter complementary shade can create a more noticeable face-framing highlight effect.

Who May Benefit Most?
Face-Framing Pieces are optional — not everyone needs them.
Good Fit 01
Finer Front Sections
Helpful when the temples or front sections naturally have less density than the back of the hair.
Good Fit 02
Shorter Front Layers
Useful when your own front pieces are noticeably shorter than the extension length and need a softer transition.
Good Fit 03
Longer Extensions
Particularly useful when wearing longer extensions and you want intentional shorter layers around the face.
When might you not need them?
If you already have plenty of natural density around the front and your existing layers transition smoothly into your extensions, you may be perfectly happy without adding Face-Framing Pieces. More hair is not automatically a better result.
Choose Your Front Fullness
Add only as much as your hairstyle needs.
10g
Subtle
A light finishing touch for customers who only want a small amount of extra hair around the front.
15g
Everyday
A more noticeable level of front fullness while still keeping the face-framing effect lightweight.
20g
Fuller
Designed for customers who want stronger face-framing fullness or have more density to blend through the front.

Face-Framing
Pieces FAQ
Why does UNILOVELY offer Face-Framing Pieces in 14 inches?
We intentionally chose 14 inches because Face-Framing Pieces are designed to create a shorter transition layer around the front, rather than duplicate the full length of your main extensions. The length is long enough to blend while remaining short enough to create a visible face-framing effect.
Do Face-Framing Pieces need to match my extension length?
No. Your Halo or Clip-In extensions create the main overall length of your hairstyle, while the shorter Face-Framing Pieces are intended to create shape and transition around the front.
Can I wear 14-inch Face-Framing Pieces with 20, 22, or 24-inch extensions?
Yes. The difference in length is intentional. With longer extensions, the 14-inch front pieces can help create more visible layering and a gradual transition around the face.
Do I need Face-Framing Pieces with every Halo or Clip-In set?
No. They are an optional finishing piece. They may be most useful when your front sections are finer or shorter, when you want more visible face-framing layers, or when you want targeted color and fullness around the face.
Should Face-Framing Pieces be the same color as my extensions?
For the most seamless result, choosing the same or a closely matching shade is usually the easiest approach. You can also intentionally choose a complementary shade for more contrast or dimension. If you are unsure, use our Color Match service.
How much Face-Framing hair should I choose?
UNILOVELY offers 10g Subtle, 15g Everyday, and 20g Fuller options. The best choice depends on your natural front density and how noticeable you want the face-framing effect to be.
Are UNILOVELY Face-Framing Pieces real human hair?
Yes. UNILOVELY Face-Framing Pieces are made with 100% Remy human hair, just like our Remy Human Hair Extensions .
How does the $40 Face-Framing add-on offer work?
Add a qualifying UNILOVELY Halo or Clip-In extension and one eligible Face-Framing Pieces set to your cart. The current $40 Face-Framing add-on discount is applied automatically when the offer conditions are met. Offer terms may change.
